history
Wingendorf was first mentioned in 1349 as a "minor" Frankenstein (Klein-Frankenstein). Later place names are Wenygendorf (1378), Wenigendorff (1439) and later Wingendorf (f) (1539/49). Wingendorf was a mansion of a line of the lords of Schönberg , who from 1446 also owned Oberschöna and Frankenstein. Around 1551, Wingendorf and Frankenstein belonged to the Schönberg manor Oberschöna, but the administration of the places was no longer the responsibility of the Freiberg district office , but rather the care of Schellenberg and later the Augustusburg office . From 1696 the " Rittergut Wingendorf " is occupied with the places Wingendorf, Frankenstein and the "town" Hainichen (exclave), which again belonged to the Freiberg district office.
In Wingendorf and the two neighboring towns of Frankenstein and Bräunsdorf, silver mining was carried out between 1500 and 1800. The associated stamping mill was located in the neighboring Kemnitztal, the ore was brought to Muldenhütten near Freiberg for further processing .
During an administrative reform in the Kingdom of Saxony , the jurisdiction of the places Wingendorf and Frankenstein was transferred to the Royal Court of Oederan in 1856 . Since 1875 Wingendorf has belonged to the Flöha district administration , whose successor was the Flöha district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). In 1974 Wingendorf was incorporated into Frankenstein, with which it came to the Saxon district of Flöha in 1990, to the district of Freiberg in 1994 and to the district of central Saxony in 2008 . With the incorporation of the community of Frankenstein and its districts into the city of Oederan, Wingendorf has been a district of Oederan since 2012.
