Andreea Cacovean

Andreea Cacovean (born September 15, 1978 in Turda ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .

She started gymnastics at the age of seven and was active in the CSȘ "Cetate" Deva. At the European Junior Championships in 1992, she won five medals, including the titles with the team, on the balance beam and on the ground. In 1993 she won four medals at the European Junior Championships, including gold on the uneven bars.

In 1993, Cacovean also took part in the active world championships for the first time . In Birmingham she was able to win the bronze medal on the uneven bars behind the Americans Shannon Miller and Dominique Dawes .

Her greatest success came at the 1995 World Gymnastics Championships . In Sabae, Japan, Cacovean won the world championship with the Romanian gymnastics team with Simona Amânar , Gina Gogean , Nadia Hatagan , Alexandra Marinescu , Lavinia Miloșovici and Claudia Presăcan ahead of China and the USA.

In 1996 she had to resign due to an injury.
