Andrey Bolotov ( Russian Андрей Тимофеевич Болотов ; born October 7 . Jul / 18th October  1738 greg. In Dworjaninowo , Tula Governorate , † October 4 jul. / 16th October  1833 greg. ) Was a Russian agronomist .

Act

He discovered the dichogamy of apple trees , showed the advantages of cross-pollination , published a pioneering handbook of field management and worked out a pomological system that included more than 600 apple and pear varieties. He also studied the scientific principles of forestry .

In addition, Bolotov appeared as a writer and publicist . He wrote philosophical treatises, left behind extensive memoirs in which he describes the life of the Russian landed gentry in the 18th century, and published two journals for Nikolai Ivanovich Novikov's publishing house : Der Landmann (1778–1779) and Ökonomisches Magazin (1780–1789) .

The asteroid (7858) Bolotov is named after him.
