Andrew "Bubba" Berenzweig (born August 8, 1977 in Arlington Heights , Illinois ) is a former American ice hockey player who during his active career between 1995 and 2004, among other things, for the Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League on the position of defender has played.
Career
Berenzweig moved in the year from high school to the University of Michigan , where he played for four years for the university team in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association , a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . During this time he won the national championship twice with the team and was selected in the fifth round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft in 109th place by the New York Islanders .
For the Islanders, however, the defender was never used, as they had given him during his final season at the university for a four-round vote in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft to the Nashville Predators . In the organization of the Predators Berenzweig celebrated his professional debut during the 1999/2000 season. The following four seasons he was mainly for Nashville's farm team , the Milwaukee Admirals , in the International Hockey League and American Hockey League to use. However, he also completed 37 games in the National Hockey League during this period. In February 2003 Berenzweig was given to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Jon Sim . They put him in their farm team, the Utah Grizzlies , until December of the same year , before they suspended him for breach of contract. The stars had not complied with Berenzweig's change request and he then left the team on his own initiative. The defender did not play any other games.
