Jonathan "Jon" Sim (born September 29, 1977 in New Glasgow , Nova Scotia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 484 games for the Dallas Stars , Nashville Predators , Los Angeles Kings , Pittsburgh Penguins , Philadelphia Flyers , Florida Panthers , Atlanta Thrashers and New York Islanders played on the left winger position in the National Hockey League . Sim celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the Dallas Stars by winning the Stanley Cup in 1999 . In addition, he won the Calder Cup of the American Hockey League with the Philadelphia Phantoms in 2005 , in which he completed a further 268 professional appearances.
Career
Jon Sim began his career as a hockey player with the Sarnia Sting , for which he was active in the Ontario Hockey League from 1994 to 1998 . During this time he was selected in the third round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 70th player by the Dallas Stars . For Dallas, the striker played for a total of four and a half years in the National Hockey League between 1998 and 2003 and won the Stanley Cup with them in 1999 . In February 2003, the Canadian was transferred to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Andrew Berenzweig , for which he only played four games before he was signed by the Los Angeles Kings .
Shortly before the end of the trade deadline in March 2004, the Pittsburgh Penguins signed the attacker, who played for the Penguins until the end of the season. Before the 2004/05 season , Sim moved to the Phoenix Coyotes . However, since the season was canceled due to the lockout , he first played for the farm team of the Coyotes from the American Hockey League , the Utah Grizzlies , before he was given over to their league rivals, the Philadelphia Phantoms , with whom he then won the Calder Cup won.
After a season with the Philadelphia Flyers and Florida Panthers , as well as a year with the Atlanta Thrashers , Sim signed a contract with the New York Islanders in the summer of 2007 . Sim ran for this Islanders until the beginning of 2011.
In January 2011, Sim was committed by Friborg-Gottéron from the National League A until the end of the 2010/11 season and played ten games for the club. In August 2011 the Canadian was signed by HC Pardubice from the Czech Extraliga , but was loaned to league rivals HC Slavia Prague during the season. From 18 January 2012, he stood up to the end of the season with the Eisbären Berlin in the German ice hockey league under contract and won in his first year in Berlin, the German Hockey Championship .
After winning the title, the striker returned to North America and spent his last two professional seasons in the AHL. He completed the 2012/13 season with the San Antonio Rampage and Adirondack Phantoms . For the season 2013/14 , he returned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, where he ended his career in summer 2014 at the age of 36 years.
