Marcus Botsch

Marcus Botsch (born March 30, 1961 in Münster ; † January 6, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German designer .

Life

After graduating from high school, Botsch did an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic at the psychological institute of the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). From 1983 he first studied mechanical engineering , then oriental studies and art history at the RUB, and later industrial design at the University of Essen (Folkwang School). He received his diploma in 1992.

Since 1992 he has worked as a freelance designer, first in Bochum and Cologne , and since 1996 in Berlin and Moscow . At first, Marcus Botsch worked in the area of ​​furniture & accessories, shopfitting and control systems, later in the area of ​​medical technology. With his colleague Philippe Bataille, he designed the cardiac support systems Excor and Incor for Berlin Heart GmbH . With his office he revised the overall appearance of Berliner Wasserbetriebe .

Lectureships and visiting professorships

He worked as a lecturer at the Cologne International School of Design . As a visiting professor, Botsch taught at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in 1999 and at the University of Essen in 2000. In 2008/2009 he taught as a professor at the Saar College of Fine Arts .

  • 1990: Hanging container, sales Nils Holger Moormann, award for high design quality at the Design Center NRW
  • 1997: Medical laser for Baasel Lasertechnik, award for high design quality at the Design Center NRW
  • 1999: 1st prize in the competition for the Federal Horticultural Show in Potsdam, furnishing elements for the park on Bornstedter Feld
  • 2000: Design and organization of the exhibition Ein Herz für Berlin (Berlin) as part of the EXPO
  • 2003: Organization and implementation of the event Einzeichen für Mehrweg (Berlin) for Environment Day
  • 2004: Conception and design of the public design concept for Alt-Sachsenhausen (Frankfurt am Main)
  • 2006: Design of the manhole cover for Berlin
  • 2006: IF Product Design Award for Freecom external hard drives
