Andrew Revkin
Andrew C. Revkin (* 1956 in Rhode Island ) is an American science journalist for the New York Times .
Life
Andrew Revkin was born and raised in Rhode Island. He graduated from Brown University with a degree in biology in 1978 . He later earned a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism . From 1995 to 2009 he wrote for the print edition of the New York Times , since he runs the Dot Earth - blog on the pages of the New York Times .

Films based on his works
Two films were made based on Revkin's works:
- Flame resistance ( The Burning Season ), an HBO movie from 1994 with Raúl Juliá , directed by John Frankenheimer , based on Revkins Biography of Chico Mendes , who was murdered environmental activist who campaigned for the preservation of the Amazon rainforest.
- Rock Star , a 2001 film starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston , was based on Revkins newspaper article, A Metal-Head Becomes a Metal-God. Heavy , which was published in the New York Times in1997. The article describes how a singer from a Judas Priest association replaced his idol in the band Judas Priest.
