Andrew Setefano (born August 10, 1987 in Silisili , Gaga'ifomauga ) is a Samoan football player .

Life

Setefano was born in Silisili, in the Gaga'ifomauga province on Chatham Island . He then lived on the island of Upolu in Alamagoto and Faleapuna . In 1997 the family moved to the neighboring island of Savai'i to Vaito'omuli , where he attended the Alofi o Taoa Secondary School in Safotu .

Career

In the club

Setefano then started his soccer career with the All Day I Dream About Soccer Soccer Club in Almagoto on Upolu . At Adidas SC he went through all youth teams, rose to the senior team in spring 2007 and made his debut in third-class Division 2. In the following years he was able to celebrate two promotions with his club and was semi-professional in the 2009/2010 season - Debut in the highest Samoan SFSF-NC National League. After a season in the Samoan House of Lords, he left Samoa in spring 2010 and went to New Zealand , where he signed with Upper Hutt City FC in the Lotto Men's Central League . After a season in New Zealand, he turned his back on Upper Hutt City and went to the top club Hekari United FC in Papua New Guinea . After only 6 months in Papua New Guinea, he returned to Samoa and signed for Gold Star Sogi . He then stayed for a year with Goldstar in the Samoa Premier League and returned to New Zealand's Upper Hutt City in the summer of 2012. In New Zealand he played until August 12, 2013 and on the same day signed a contract with the Samoan champions Kiwi SC . With the Kiwi's, he moved into the OFC Champions League for the first time after 3 wins in the OCL Preliminary Round .

International

Setefano was nominated for a national team for the first time in 1999 and played for Samoa's U-12 national team in a tournament in New Zealand. He then played for the U-17 Samoas and reached 4th place in Group B ahead of American Samoa in qualifying for the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Setefano has been a member of the Samoan national soccer team since 2009 and made his international debut in an unofficial friendly against New Zealand's Papakura City FC from Northern Region Football Division 2 . Setefano has been wearing the team captain's armband for the Samoan national soccer team since 2011 .
