Andrija Konc

Andrija Konc (born October 10, 1914 (according to other information October 10, 1919) in Sombor , † in autumn 1945 in Bjelovar ) was a Yugoslav operetta and pop singer , composer and soccer goalkeeper.

Life

Konc graduated from the Zagreb Music Academy with Lav Vrbanić. He was a member of the opera choir of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb , with whom he appeared in operettas ( La traviata by Verdi , St. Anthony by Jara Beneš , Pjesmom kroz život by Milan Asić, Snovi male Luane by Slavko Miđor and Maks Mottla, etc.) . He later switched to salon music and became famous for it. Konc sang on the radio , released records and performed internationally. He also composed a few hits himself.

Konc played for the Hrvatski akademski športski klub as a football goalkeeper . During the Second World War he also performed in Germany and Hungary . On April 23, 1945 he performed for the thousandth time. The well-known theater actress Eliza Gerner wrote in her memoir that Konc was imprisoned in an OZNA camp near Bjelovar and murdered there. In communist Yugoslavia his music was not played.
