Andrzej Jacek Nowakowski (born October 23, 1971 in Sierpc ) is a Polish politician of the Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ) and since December 2010 mayor of Płock .

Andrzej Nowakowski completed the general education license " Władysław Jagiełło " in Płock in 1990 and then studied at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Thorn . He finished his studies with a Masters in Polish Studies . After graduating, he returned to high school as a teacher.

From 2002 to 2007 Nowakowski was a member of the Płock City Council. He was a member of Unia Polityki Realnej , in 2005/2006 he switched to the citizens' platform. In 2006 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of mayor of Płocks. In the early parliamentary elections in 2007 he was able to win a seat for the Sejm with 11,608 votes in the constituency of 16 Płock . There he worked on the tourism and EU affairs committees. In 2010 he ran again for the election of the president of the city of Płock. In the runoff election against the incumbent mayor Mirosław Milewski , he was able to prevail with 52.34 percent of the vote. Therefore, he resigned his parliamentary mandate on December 7, 2010 and was sworn in as head of the city on December 13, 2010. After he was re-elected in the first ballot in 2014, he sat down in the regular election in October 2018, also in the first ballot, with 60.7% of the votes against the PiS candidate Wioletta Kulpa, who won 29.2% of the votes, and two further candidates.

Andrzej Nowakowski is married and has three children.
