Andrzej Zawada (literary historian)

Andrzej Zawada (born September 28, 1948 in Wieluń ) is a Polish literary historian , literary critic , essayist and professor at the University of Wroclaw , who mainly deals with Polish literature of the 20th century .

Life

Zawada was born in Wieluń and has lived in Wroclaw since 1966 , where he completed his degree in Polish Studies in 1971 . In 1967 he made his debut in the literary magazine Agora . From 1978 to 1980 he worked at the Universities of Åbo Akademi and Turku University . Since the 1970s he has been working with Polskie Radio , for which he has edited literary programs, feature articles and radio plays. From 1980 to 1990 he was a member of the editorial board of the two-month publication Literatura Ludowa . In 1993 he worked at the University of Groningen . From 1996 to 2005 he edited the Biblioteka Narodowa series . From 1999 to 2006 he was also a member of Komitet Nauk o Literaturze PAN and from 1999 to 2008 chairman of the program council of Polskie Radio Wrocław . From 2006 to 2016 he was a member of the jury for the Central European Angelus Literature Prize . Since 2016 he has been chairman of the jury of the Wroclaw Poetry Prize Silesius .
