Controversy

  • At the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, Palmer said it was "complete bullshit" to assume that electric vehicles would ultimately only move CO 2 to the power plant. Palmer acknowledged that electric vehicles could do even more to protect the environment if power generation was made more sustainable on a global scale.
  • In October 2013, Palmer hit the media when he called the Toyota GT86 and its sister model Subaru BRZ "midlife crisis vehicles".
  • In March 2014, Palmer drew attention after Global NCAP tested a selection of the best-selling vehicles in India (including the Tata Nano, Suzuki-Maruti Alto 800, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i10) and found them unsatisfactory. "In my opinion, the people who criticize these vehicles for not meeting European or US standards live in a dream world," Palmer was quoted by Autocar as saying. He went on to say: “We're talking about vehicles that transport people who would otherwise be four or five people on a motorcycle. These people can no longer afford; and if we adjust the security systems we will push prices up and they will choose the bike again. A car with a body and individual seats is much safer than a motorcycle. ”There was no Nissan vehicle among the vehicles tested.
