The career

Andy Portmann played in his first band at the age of eleven. At that time, however, still as a guitarist , later as a bassist , then as a drummer and from 1985 as a lead singer. In the course of his career Andy Portmann was a singer in various bands at home and abroad. In 1988 he got his first musical role in the play "Casanova". In 1993 the musical "Living for the Musical", written by him, was performed. In between, in 1991 he was in the USA, in Los Angeles, with a metal band called "Linkage" as their front man .

In 1995 he was involved as a background singer with Krokus for the album "To Rock or Not To Be" and was also part of the corresponding tour . The resulting collaboration and friendship between Portmann and Many Maurer , the then Krokus bassist and co- producer of this album, continued beyond the project and ultimately led to Portmann becoming the new lead singer of the metal band Ain, which Many Maurer founded in 1991 't was dead yet.

After Ain't Dead Yet broke up, Portmann temporarily turned away from metal. In 2000/2001 he played Ernst Ludwig in the musical " Cabaret " and in 2001 his first solo album "Only With a Smile" was released, which also sounds more like pop or musical. In 2003 the successor "BroadwayPop" appears.

Andy Portmann's third album was released in 2005 and takes him back into the metal genre and to a renewed collaboration with Many Maurer. He supported Portmann as a studio musician and producer. Felskinn was started as a solo project. The musicians for the band still had to be found. On October 28, 2005, the first gig in the Z7 followed in the opening act for Shakra . In addition to Andy Portmann, Stefan Schroff (ex-Sandee) on guitar, Flavio Mezzodi on drums and René Maurer (ex-Gölä, Sandee) on bass. The latter, however, was already replaced at the next gig and by Sarah Zaugg, who from then on was a permanent member of Felskinn. In 2007 the second Felskinn album "Listen" was released.

His life

Portmann grew up in Lucerne and still lives there. His learned profession would be a farmer , which he never really practiced. In addition to his activities as an active musician, Portmann has worked as a singing teacher and vocal coach for many years . During this time he taught numerous students such as the singer Mark Sweeny ex. Crystal Ball or the Swiss musician Pee from Dada Ante Portas .

New project with Many Masons

Andy Portmann, Many Maurer and drummer Danny Zimmermann are currently working on the debut album “Eleven Stages of Life” under the band name “Download the Band”. This album should be released in early 2012. The music style should go in the direction of Ain't Dead Yet or the first Felskinn album.
