The Anegada Passage is a strait in the Caribbean that lies between the archipelago of the British Virgin Islands (to the west) and Sombrero Island (to the east).
Both the British Virgin Islands and Sombrero Island, which is part of Anguilla , belong to the British Overseas Territories .
This strait creates a connection between the Caribbean in the south and the Atlantic in the north.
The Anegada Passage is named after the island of the same name, Anegada , which lies in the north of the strait and belongs to the British Virgin Islands. The island of Anegada is the furthest north in the British Virgin Islands.
