Anethofuran (also called dill ether ) is a component of essential oils . It is a monoterpene - ether having the empirical formula C 10 H 16 O.
Occurrence
It occurs in caraway and dill , among others . In the essential oil of the dill herb it forms one of the characteristic odorous substances and makes up a considerable proportion of the oil, in Cuban dill oil 14.85%, in dill oil from Réunion even 20.80% anethofuran was found.
