Angel Gentschew
Angel Angelow Gentschew ( Bulgarian Ангел Ангелов Генчев ; born January 31, 1967 in Targovishte ) is a former Bulgarian weightlifter .
Career
He won the gold medal in the class up to 75 kg at the European Championships in 1988 with 372.5 kg. At the Olympic Games in 1988 he was the first to win. But after he was positive for furosemide during the doping control , he was banned and the gold medal was revoked . At the 1994 World Championships , he won the bronze medal in the class up to 70 kg with 340.0 kg.
His fall into ruin after the ban was described in the documentary Saltomortale (2015).
