Angela Smecca (born December 5, 1974 in Gevelsberg ) is a German singer and actress.
Smecca became known alongside Stephan Remmler when she sang the song Feuerwerk with him in 1984 under the name “Stephan und Nina”. The then 9-year-old was selected from numerous applicants who applied for a place at Remmler's side via a search by the Bild newspaper . The song Feuerwerk was originally supposed to be produced as a duet with Nina Hagen , but this failed due to contractual obstacles, so that a child was sought as a duet partner instead. Smecca had to have her hair shaved off for television appearances and video productions so that she resembled the shaved Remmler. Fireworksplaced 32nd in the German singles charts. The also international versions ( Fireworks in English and Fuegos artificiales in Spanish) could not establish themselves commercially. Other language versions in Italian and French remained completely unpublished.
In 1987 Smecca - now again with long hair - played the leading role in the film War of Tones alongside Holger Czukay . Remmler also played a small supporting role in this film. In 1988 Smecca worked again with Remmler, accompanied him singing on his song Bahia and was also shown in the accompanying video.
Smecca lives in Berlin today .
