Angelika Bunse-Gerstner

Angelika Bunse-Gerstner (* 1951 ) is a German mathematician and university professor . She was the first university lecturer for mathematics at Bielefeld University . Her research areas are numerical linear algebra and control theory.

life and work

Bunse-Gerstner studied mathematics from 1969 to 1975 with a minor in economics at the University of Cologne and the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg . After graduating with a diploma , she carried out research at Bielefeld University from 1976 to 1991 . Here she did her doctorate in 1978 with Ludwig Elsner and Hans Johnen with the dissertation The HR Manager for the numerical determination of the eigenvalues ​​of a matrix . In 1986 she completed her habilitation in mathematics. From 1976 to 1989 she was a research assistant and then until 1991 a university lecturer at Bielefeld University. From 1991 to 2017 she worked as a professor at the Center for Technomathematics at the University of Bremen , where she was Vice Rector for Research from 2006 to 2008. In 2017 she listed the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics as a Fellow.
