Angelov Island ( English ; Bulgarian Ангелов остров Angelow Ostrow ) is a north-south orientation 700 m long, 530 m wide and rocky island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located 3.53 km northwest of Moreton Point , 0.7 km northwest of Monroe Island and 0.15 km southeast of Nicolas Rocks in the Larsen Islands group .
British scientists mapped it in 1963. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2019 after Kosjo Angelow (1948-2005), captain of the Argonawt trawler , who had operated between December 1978 and July 1979 in the waters around the Southern Orkney Islands.
