life and career
Club career
Ponce plays for Talleres Emanuel in Ecuador .
National team career
Ponce took part in the Sudamericano Femenino in their home country in 2014 . It was used in five out of seven games after which Ecuador finished third. So Ecuador had to play in the Pan American playoff games against Trinidad and Tobago , in which it was also used. After a 0-0 draw in Quito , Mónica Quinteros secured the Ecuadorians their first World Cup participation after submission by Ponce with a goal in added time in Port of Spain .
Both are also part of the Ecuadorian squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada . In the second group game against Switzerland , Ponce scored an own goal in the 24th minute to make it 0: 1 and thus the first World Cup goal for the Swiss women. When her teammate Quinteros was fouled in the Swiss penalty area in the 64th minute, Ponce took the penalty and scored the first World Cup goal for the Ecuadorians. Just seven minutes later, she made a second own goal. This makes her the first player to score two own goals in a World Cup match. Ecuador lost the game 1:10, the third highest World Cup defeat .
