The Anglezarke Reservoir |
The Anglezarke Reservoir is a reservoir in Lancashire , England . The reservoir lies east of Chorley and is the northernmost of a six kilometer chain of three reservoirs. In the south, the Upper Rivington Reservoir and the Lower Rivington Reservoir connect . The reservoirs of the High Bullough Reservoir to the east of the Anglezarke Reservoir and the Yarrow Reservoir also belong to the network .
The reservoir was built by Thomas Hawksley between 1850 and 1857 to supply water to the city of Liverpool . A 27.35 km long pipeline runs from the reservoir to Prescot near Liverpool.
The River Yarrow is the main tributary of the reservoir on its southeast side. A canal called The Goit leads the reservoir on its north side over 6.4 km of water from the Rake Brook Reservoir . The reservoir has an average water depth of 5.8 m.
