Origin and history

The breed emerged from numerous crossings, for example Beagles were crossed with Harriern , Petit Bleu de Gascogne with Beagle and Briquet or Poitevin with Bleu de Gascogne and Porcelaine . All specimens were relatively small, had English and French hounds -Blood and were good Hasenjäger. 1957 was the first recognition of the breed in France. The developed standard , however, required a clear separation between Beagle and Anglo-Français. This unified the breed so that it was recognized by the FCI in 1978.
