The Angola genet ( Genetta angolensis ) is one of 15 species of genet within the crawling cats . It is common in sub- Saharan Africa.
features
The Angola genet has a slender body with a small head. It is about the size of a cat with a body weight of one to two kilograms. The fur is covered with numerous black spots on a dark to reddish-gray background, which merge into a striped pattern of five parallel lines on each side of the body on the neck and back. The pattern of spots can continue up to the legs, the belly is lighter and unspotted. Along the spine there is a hair comb about 6 centimeters high, which is more densely hairy in this species than in other gorse cats. The tail is ringed light and black.
distribution
The Angola genet is common in parts of sub-Saharan Africa. The distribution area includes parts of Angola , the Democratic Republic of the Congo , Malawi , Mozambique , Tanzania and Zambia . Turu in Tanzania is assumed to be the northernmost location . She inhabits areas in which Miombo , a grassy landscape with a loose tree population dominated by Brachystegia , is mixed with savannahs .
