Anil Batra

Anil Batra (born June 15, 1963 in Heilbronn-Sontheim ) is a German psychiatrist and university professor. His focus is addiction medicine , especially nicotine addiction and its treatment.

Life

Batra studied medicine at the University of Tübingen from 1982 to 1989 , and received his doctorate in 1989 on the subject of "Possibilities of echographic gray value analysis in pathologically enlarged spleens".

He has been a specialist in psychiatry since 1995 and a senior physician since 1999.

He completed his habilitation in 1999 and has been head of the addiction medicine and addiction research section and deputy medical director of the University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Tübingen since 2008.

Since 1999 he has been chairman of the Scientific Working Group on Tobacco Weaning (WAT), and from 2001 to 2006 he was a board member of SRNT Europe ( Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco ).

Since 2009 he has been head of the addiction psychiatry department of the German Society for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Neurology (DGPPN), and since 2010 President of the German Society for Addiction Research and Addiction Therapy (DG-Sucht).

Batra is currently in charge of the creation of the S3 guideline "Screening, diagnosis and treatment of harmful and dependent tobacco consumption" of the Association of Scientific Medical Societies (AWMF).
