Anil Singhal (born September 11, 1943 in Aligarh , British India ; † May 10, 2017 in Paderborn ) was an Indo-German doctor who was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his humanitarian commitment . He was also nominated as a candidate for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize.

Life

Singhal studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg . He received his doctorate in 1973 and in 1975 he was recognized as a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics by the Rhineland-Palatinate Medical Association. From 1975 to the end of 1978, Singhal was senior physician and deputy chief physician at St. Josefs Hospital in Salzkotten. From 1979 he worked as a resident gynecologist, later as a general practitioner in Delbrück until his death . Between 1989 and 1997, Singhal was a member of the chamber assembly of the Westphalia-Lippe Medical Association . In addition, he was a member of the board of directors of the Family Doctors Association in Westphalia-Lippe for many years. He is president of the aid organization “Help for the children e. V. “and is committed to helping children in need in the third world. In 1989 Singhal was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for its humanitarian commitment. In 2009 Singhal ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for mayor for Delbrück. Anil Singhal was nominated for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize.

He died on May 10, 2017 in a Paderborn hospital.
