Anita Amma Ankyewah Asante (born April 27, 1985 in London ) is an English soccer player of Ghanaian descent. The defender is under contract with the Swedish club Kopparbergs / Göteborg FC and plays for the English national team .

Asante began her career with Arsenal LFC in 1998 . During the 2003/04 season, Asante made his debut in the first team. Asante won five championships in a row between 2004 and 2008. There were also four cup wins and three league cup wins. In the 2006/07 season, Asante won the UEFA Women's Cup with Arsenal . For the 2008 season she moved to Chelsea LFC and 2009 to Sky Blue FC.

With the English U-19 selection Asante took part in the 2002 World Cup in Canada . On May 14, 2004, she made her debut in the English senior team in a game against Iceland . Asante took part in the 2005 European Championships , the 2007 World Championships and the 2009 European Championships . She was also nominated for the 2011 World Cup . Asante only made her first appearance at the World Cup in Germany in the last group game against Japan, and was substituted on in the 84th minute in the quarter-finals against France . After the lost penalty shootout, she was eliminated with England in the quarter-finals as in 2007.

She was a member of Team GB at the 2012 Olympics , which was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Canada.
