Anita Rieder

Anita Rieder (born December 9, 1962 in Wels ) is an Austrian social medicine specialist .

Career

Anita Rieder received her doctorate in medicine from the University of Vienna in 1989 and completed her specialist training as a social medicine specialist in 1993. Since 1993 Rieder has also worked as a health psychologist. In 1997 she completed her habilitation in social medicine and in April 2000 was appointed professor for social medicine with a special focus on cardiovascular diseases at the Medical University of Vienna . In 1999 Rieder was visiting professor at the University of Ottawa and in 2002 at the Hannover Medical Schoolinside. From 2007 to 2015, Rieder was curriculum director for the human medicine course and head of curriculum coordination in the Department for Education and Training at the Medical University of Vienna. Since 2012 she has been head of the Center for Public Health at the Medical University of Vienna. Since October 1, 2015, she has been Vice Rector for Teaching at the Medical University of Vienna.

Memberships

Rieder has been a board member of the Austrian Society for Hypertensiology since 2004 and of the Austrian Obesity Society and the Austrian Society for Nutrition since 2005 . Rieder was also a founding member of the Women's Medical Forum in 1996 , for which she was awarded the annual prize of the Medical University of Vienna in 1997. Rieder is also represented on the board of the Society of Doctors in Vienna . Since 2000 she has been a member of the scientific advisory board (and currently chairwoman) of the Fonds Gesundes Österreich and the Vienna Women's Health Program, the Vienna State Medical Council, and since 2002 of the Supreme Medical Council, the Advisory Council for the Vienna Women's Health Promotion Program, the Urban Planning Commission in Vienna for health and a member on the Board of Trustees of the Austrian Institute for Family Research.

Since 2005, Rieder has been a member of the endowed chair of systems and supply research at the Hannover Medical School. In 2005 and 2006, as the representative of Austria, she was a member of the expert committee on the inclusion of gender differences in the health policy of the Council of Europe . Rieder is also a member of the Taskforce for Public Health & Prevention of the European Association for the Study of Obesity and is represented on the Board of Trustees of the Austrian Academic Exchange Service. Since 2012 she has also been represented on the Science and Research Council of the State of Salzburg and since 2013 chairwoman of the Public Health Commission of the Supreme Sanitary Council, the working group on health examinations and the working group promoting women's careers in medicine as well as a member of the advisory board of the Austrian Federal Institute for Healthcare.

In addition, she is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Upper Austrian think tank ACADEMIA SUPERIOR - Society for Future Research .

Awards

In 1996 Anita Rieder received the Otto Loewi Prize of the Austrian Society for Hypertensiology and in 1997 the annual prize of the University of Vienna for special merits in women's research. In 2004 Rieder received the award A Heart for Vienna from the City of Vienna for the scientific management of the cardiovascular prevention program and in 2008 the Golden Medal of Honor from the Vienna Medical Association. In 2010 Rieder was awarded the Werner Klein Prize of the Austrian Society for Hypertensiology . In October 2013 she was also awarded the Cross of Honor for Science and Art.

Anita Rieder published around 160 scientific publications between 2002 and 2011 and is the author or co-author of over 50 books.
