The Academia Superior (official name: ACADEMIA SUPERIOR - Society for Future Research ) is a think tank in Upper Austria , which was founded in 2010 to politically support socio-economic change processes at the regional level.

Goals and Topics

The association was founded in December 2010 in Linz on the Danube. The aim of the non-profit association is to identify current and future economic, societal and socio-political challenges at local, national and international level, to analyze them from a scientific perspective and to develop proposals and recommendations for action for decision-makers.

The topics dealt with by Academia Superior include the areas of economic, innovation and energy policy, health, education and generational policy, as well as migration and digitization.

Several recommendations by Academia Superior were politically implemented: The “Economic Reform Agenda for Upper Austria” became a key template for the economic strategy of the federal state of Upper Austria . As part of his work at Academia Superior, Markus Hengstschläger initiated the idea of an educational compass (analogous to the Austrian mother-child pass ) for the educational system in Austria . At the end of 2015, its implementation was announced by the Federal Ministry for Families and Youth . The first pilot phase at kindergartens in Upper Austria started in autumn 2017. The Bildungskompass is to be implemented nationwide in Austria by 2018/19. In a study in 2012, Academia Superior called for Upper Austrian energy policy to be realigned to focus on energy efficiency and has since been committed to realizing the vision of an Upper Austrian energy-leading region. In 2017 the implementation took place through a new energy strategy of the state of Upper Austria - "Energy-Leitregion OÖ 2050".
