Hubert Pehamberger

Hubert Pehamberger (born June 10, 1951 in Vienna ) is an Austrian dermatologist and specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer .

Life

Hubert Pehamberger completed his training in dermatology at the I. University Dermatology Clinic at the University of Vienna . Basic scientific training took place as part of a sabbatical at the Immunology Branch of the National Institute of Health , Bethesda, Maryland, USA . He received the license to teach on the subject of "Malignant melanoma of the skin ".

In 1988, together with the Austrian Medical Association, he developed the first melanoma prevention campaign, which is carried out annually with the Austrian Cancer Aid under the name “Sun without Regrets” .

Together with his working group at the university clinic, he developed and established dermatoscopy, which is used around the world today .

Hubert Pehamberger headed the clinical department for general dermatology and dermatooncology at the University Clinic for Dermatology and was head of the University Clinic for Dermatology at the Medical University of Vienna . After leaving the Academia, he was medical director of the Rudolfinerhaus private clinic in Vienna.
