Markus Achatz (born April 21, 1960 in Graz ) is an Austrian administration and finance scientist and professor at the University of Linz ; since 2013 he has been a member of the Austrian Constitutional Court .Template: future / in 5 years

Life

Markus Achatz was in 1982 at the University of Graz for Dr. iur. PhD . After working at court, he was an assistant at the Institute for Financial Law at the University of Graz from 1983 to 1992. In 1992 he completed his habilitation in financial law at the University of Graz. Since 1992 he has been a partner in the LeitnerLeitner law firm , Vienna and Linz.

In 1993 Achatz was visiting professor at the Institute for Administrative Law and Administrative Doctrine at the University of Linz . In 1996 he was admitted as a tax consultant and received shortly after the call to the university professor and head of the Department of Tax Law at the University of Linz. From 2000 to 2009 he was head of the Institute for Administrative Law and Administrative Doctrine at the University of Linz, and from 2009 to 2011 dean of the Faculty of Law there. From 2004 he has also been the director of the Research Institute for Tax Law and Tax Management, and since 2009 he has been the director of the Institute for Finance Law, Tax Law and Tax Policy at the University of Linz. At the end of 2012 he was nominated constitutional judge by the National Council. Since January 9th, 2013 he has been a member of the Austrian Constitutional Court . He is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Upper Austrian think tank ACADEMIA SUPERIOR - Society for Future Research .

In 1996 Achatz was visiting professor for European and international business law at the University of St. Gallen and in 2005 also taught at New York University . He has published several publications on topics relating to public corporations, sales tax and corporate tax law.

Achatz is a member of the Catholic student union K.Ö.HV Carolina Graz in the ÖCV .
