Professional background

Sieglinde Gahleitner was born on May 10, 1965 in St. Veit im Mühlkreis in Upper Austria . She attended elementary school and lower school in St. Veit and the district capital Rohrbach in Upper Austria . In 1983 Gahleitner graduated from the Bundesrealgymnasium Rohrbach. Subsequently, she began in 1983 Studied law at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna , where she in 1989 with a social security issue for the doctor of rights doctorate was. Shortly before graduating, Sieglinde Gahleitner completed her legal practice in 1988/89 .

From 1989 to 1995 she then worked as a social policy advisor at the Federal Chamber of Labor . In 1995 she switched to a law firm, where she initially became a trainee lawyer. In 1998 Sieglinde Gahleitner became a partner in the law firm Grießer / Gerlach / Gahleitner, in 2011 she set up her own law firm and now works as a lawyer in Vienna. On December 22nd, 2009 she was appointed a member of the Constitutional Court by Federal President Heinz Fischer , effective January 1st, 2010 on the proposal of the Federal Council . Since 2017 she has been a permanent consultant in the college of constitutional judges.

Part-time activities

From 1999 to 2009 she was a member of the Takeover Commission, from 2008 to 2013 she was Deputy Chairwoman of the University Council of the University of Salzburg . In 2009 she also became a member of the ORF Foundation Council and the Federal Unification Office. Sieglinde Gahleitner has been Vice President of the Society for Labor Law and Social Law since 2012 , and is also a member of the scientific advisory board of the journal Das Recht der Arbeit . In May 2016 she was appointed honorary professor for labor and social law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business .
