Anita Schöbel

Anita Schöbel (born May 2, 1969 in Stuttgart as Anita Schumacher ) is a German mathematician , professor of applied mathematics at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics .

Career

Schöbel graduated from high school with an overall grade of 1.0 in 1988 at the Karolinen-Gymnasium in Frankenthal . She then studied mathematics and economics at the University of Kaiserslautern under Horst Hamacher , where she received her diploma in 1994 and her doctorate summa cum laude in 1998 . She then worked as head of the transport department at the Institute for Industrial Mathematics (1998–1999) and as a research assistant at the Mathematics Department at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (1999–2004). Her habilitation took place in 2003. From 2004 to 2018 she was professor at the Institute for Numerical and Applied Mathematics at the Georg-August University of Göttingen . During this time she was also a visiting scholar at the University of Auckland in New Zealand in 2008 and 2009 .

Schöbel has been a professor in the mathematics department at the TU Kaiserslautern and head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM since 2019.

She has also been President of the Society for Operations Research (GOR) since 2019 .

Anita Schöbel is married and has two children.
