Anja Baumheier
Anja Baumheier (* 1979 in Dresden ) is a German writer , novelist and teacher .
life and work
Anja Baumheier was born in Dresden and spent her childhood in the GDR . After graduating from high school, she studied Spanish and French in Potsdam and Granada . Today she works as a teacher and lives with her family in Berlin .
Her debut novel Kranichland was published by Rowohlt Verlag in 2018 . It tells the story of the Groen family from the founding of the GDR until the period after the reunification . Kranichland made it onto the Spiegel bestseller list .
Anja Baumheier's second novel Kastanienjahre was published in 2019 . It takes place in the fictional village of Peleroich in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and deals with the life of its residents from 1949 to 2010.
