Anna-Lena , actually Anna-Lena Löfgren (born May 1, 1944 in Stockholm ; † May 21, 2010 ), was a Swedish pop singer who was also known in German-speaking countries in the 1960s.
Artistic career
Anna-Lena was the daughter of a printer. As a child, she developed polio , which left her right foot paralyzed. During her school days she sang in the school choir and later in the Stockholm Radio Choir. At the age of 15 she was in a rock 'n' roll band. During one of the performances, the producer of the Swedish record company Metronome Anders Burman became aware of Anna-Lena. In 1960 she recorded her first single , which was unsuccessful. After graduating from high school, she began studying sociology . She also sang in a trio with whom she toured her homeland. With the title Regniga Natt (Rainy Night) , published in October 1961, she made her breakthrough on the Swedish record market. The title became a hit of 1962 and the single was awarded a gold record .
At the beginning of 1962, Metronome published the first German-language record with Anna-Lena, but the titles Iwan Iwanowitsch and Say not always baby were unsuccessful. Despite some appearances on German television, the following two singles were also ignored. In 1964 Metronome brought the fourth record with Anna-Lena to the German market. With the title Tomorrow you have no worries contained on it , it made it into the German charts. The song reached number 20 in the music magazine Musikmarkt and stayed in the hit lists for 16 weeks. In 1967 one of her songs reappeared in the German hit lists: Your heart, that must be made of gold, came 17th on Musikmarkt and was listed for 20 weeks. Until 1969, the music market listed a total of seven songs by Anna-Lena, but none achieved a better listing than your heart, it must be made of gold . With the title All flowers want to bloom , Anna-Lena took part in the German Schlager Competition in Berlin in 1968 and achieved fourth place.
It opened in 1969 with Rot ist die Liebe, the first edition of the ZDF hit parade . In 1971 the contract with the German Metronome ended; by 1973 there were three more German-speaking singles that appeared on BASF and Hansa .
In Sweden Anna-Lena took part twice in the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest (1963 with the song Säg varför and 1968 with Jag vill tro ). In the 1970s she began a second career as a disc jockey with Radio Sweden . Until her death, Anna-Lena Löfgren was a well-known singer in Sweden who often appeared on television and at galas. In 1982 alone she had over 700 appearances. She expanded her repertoire with country songs and religious songs. She also worked as a composer, author and arranger. In 2001 the label 'Funny Artists' in Germany released a CD by Anna-Lena with the A-side title Sometime, luck will take you in its arms . On the B-side, her 1968 song All flowers want to bloom appeared again .
