Anna Alexandrovna Sorokina ( Russian Анна Александровна Сорокина ; born March 10, 1990 in Magnitogorsk , Chelyabinsk Oblast ) is a Russian ski racer .
biography
Sorokina took part in FIS races and national championships in her home country for the first time in the 2005/2006 season and started outside Russia for the first time next winter, including at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2007 in Jaca , Spain , where she did, however, both in slalom and in Giant Slalom eliminated. From 2007 she also took part in the Junior World Championships , in which she mostly placed in the midfield. Her best result was 15th place in the 2008 combination and 23rd place in the 2010 Super-G in individual races .
At the beginning of 2008 Sorokina took part in races in the European Cup for the first time, but had to take a break for almost the entire next winter of 2008/2009 due to an injury. So far, Sorokina has rarely been able to score in the European Cup. She succeeded for the first time with 19th place in the indoor slalom in the alpincenter Hamburg-Wittenburg on November 20, 2009, the next time only on February 10th, 2012 with 11th place in the slalom in Bad Wiessee . In other continental cups, Sorokina was already more successful. She achieved several top 10 results in the Nor-Am Cup , including third place in the Super Combined by Nakiska on December 8, 2011, and three wins in the Australia New Zealand Cup in September 2011.
After three Junior World Championships, Sorokina took part in a major event in the general class for the first time in February 2011, the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . She only started in the Super-G and finished 33rd out of 38 runners. Since the 2011/2012 season , Sorokina has also competed in the World Cup . After initially not being able to qualify for the second round in five slalom races, she was used on February 21, 2012 thanks to a wildcard for the host country at the City Event in Moscow , where she was eliminated in the first round, but shared ninth Place won her first World Cup points. Eleven months later, she received another wildcard, but again did not get past the first round.
