Anna Bolecka

Anna Bolecka, née Anna Sikorska (born June 20, 1951 in Warsaw ) is a Polish prose writer .

Life

Bolecka spent her early childhood in Wołomin and moved to Warsaw with her family at the age of 6. There she attended grammar school and graduated from high school in 1969. She then took up a degree in Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw in 1970 , where she obtained her master's degree in 1975 . After completing her studies, she worked as an editor for contemporary Polish literature at the Czytelnik publishing house . She made her debut as a writer in 1978 with the children's book Raku, and from 1989 she devoted herself to writing. From 1994 to 2001 she ran her own publishing house Szpak in Warsaw. In addition, she received several scholarships, for example at the Literary Colloquium Berlin in 1996 and 2003 , in 2001 in the Künstlerhaus Edenkoben and in 2004 in the Künstlerhaus Villa Waldberta .

She lives in Stara Miłosna near Warsaw.
