Anna Carena (actually Giuseppina Galimberti ; born January 30, 1899 in Milan ; † April 15, 1990 ibid) was an Italian actress .

Life

The daughter of Giuseppe Galimberti and Irene Colombo made her debut in 1924 under her maiden name in the ensemble of Annibale Beltrone . After that her next stations were the actors of Ferrero / Rossi, Luigi Chiarini and Uberto Palmarini . In 1928 she became the leading actress in Leo Garavaglia and Franco Schirato . After a season with Giovanni Barrella at the “Filodrammatici” of her hometown, she accepted an offer from Paolo Bonecchi in 1931 as the first lady of his dialect troupe at the “Teatro di Principe” (also in Milan, as she remained connected to her hometown throughout her life). A great success, now under the stage name, was La gibigianna by Carlo Bertolazzi .

From 1933 on, Carena led her own ensemble, with which she tried to implement a breath of fresh air and modern productions for dialect pieces for two seasons. After a break of several years, she broke new ground with a puppet theater in the “Caffè Campari” before turning back to acting, this time with Annibale Ninchi and Margit Lanczy . Finally, in 1952, she directed the “Mediolanum” of the play Cinquant'anni sul goeubb , which saw several performances.

In the cinema, Carena was only seen late, from 1941, and always in supporting roles and less important appearances, the climax of which may be the efficiently played “Argìa” in Die Mühle am Po . In 1972 she last accepted a film offer. Some television series followed by 1983.

Carena was married to Alcide Fraschini until his death.
