Anna Katrin Cavazzini (born December 12, 1982 in Schlüchtern ) is a German politician of the Alliance 90 / Greens party . She won a mandate in the 2019 European elections and has since been a member of the ninth European Parliament as part of the Greens / EFA group . Her main topics are fair globalization, fair trade policy and a sustainable EU internal market.

Life

education and profession

Cavazzini grew up in Hesse and graduated from the Ulrich von Hutten Gymnasium in Schlüchtern . After a year as a volunteer in Mexico, she completed a bachelor's degree in European Studies at the University of Chemnitz. She successfully completed her studies in 2009 with a subsequent master’s degree in international relations at the Free University of Berlin and the Humboldt University of Berlin .

In 2009, Cavazzini moved to Brussels as a research assistant from Ska Keller . After the legislative period, she moved to the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin in 2014 as a consultant on issues relating to development finance . During this time she was seconded to the United Nations in New York for one year and worked as an advisor to the 70th President of the UN General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft, on the Budget Committee and for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Between 2016 and 2017 she was employed as a trade policy advisor at Campact and since then has been an advisor for the UN SDGs at the non-governmental organization Bread for the World . Then she was there until April 2019 as a human rights officer.

Party career

During her studies Anna Cavazzini was involved in the Green Youth Chemnitz. Between 2004 and 2005 she was a member of the state board of the Green Youth of Saxony, and between 2005 and 2005 of the federal board. From 2011 to 2019 she acted as spokeswoman for the Federal Working Group on Europe of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party and headed the writing group for the European election program in 2014.

At the Federal Delegates' Conference of the Greens in November 2018, Cavazzini ran for the European election list and was elected for 7th place on the list. She won her mandate in the European elections and has been a member of the ninth European Parliament since then. For her political group, The Greens / EFA, she is a member of the Committee on International Trade and a deputy member of the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection .
