Anna Huttenlocher

Anna Huttenlocher (* 1961 ) is an American doctor and cell biologist . She works at the University of Wisconsin – Madison as a Professor of Medical Microbiology , Immunology, and Pediatrics .

Life

Huttenlocher graduated from Oberlin College, Ohio in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in biology. In 1988 she received her doctorate in medicine (MD) from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After working as a doctor and cell biologist at the University of California , San Francisco and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , she has been a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2003. There she heads the Huttenloch Laboratory at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology. Her research areas are cell and molecular biology, where she investigates the mechanisms of cell migration during inflammatory processes and the regulation of innate immunities. She works as a doctor at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in the field of pediatric rheumatology .

Anna Huttenlocher is the daughter of neuropediatrist and neuroscientist Peter Huttenlocher and developmental psychologist Janellen Huttenlocher .

Awards

Huttenlocher was elected a member of the National Academy of Medicine in 2015 and a member of the American Society for Cell Biology in 2017 .
