Anna Järvinen (born April 16, 1970 in Helsinki ) is a Swedish-Finnish singer and songwriter . Until their breakup, Järvinen was the singer of the band Granada , and since 2007 she has been releasing albums as a solo artist.

biography

Anna Järvinen moved to Stockholm with her mother when she was six . In the mid-1990s she sang in the Swedish pop group Mismates , then in the folk pop group Granada , which released three albums between 2000 and 2004 and broke up in 2003 between the recordings and the release of their last album. In 2007 she was finally signed as a solo artist by the Swedish label Häpna and released her first album Jag fick feeling in October . This album hit the charts in Sweden and her home country Finland and was nominated for three Grammis in Sweden .

The second solo album Man var bland molen was released again under Häpna in 2009 and reached the charts in Sweden and even the top 10 in Finland . The band Dungen stood by her side as an accompanying band for her own compositions . Her most successful album in Sweden, Anna Själv Tredje , was released in 2011 under Stranded and distributed by Universal . It hit the top 10 in Sweden and narrowly missed it in Finland, but shortly after its release it had to be taken off the market because a cover version of a Cocteau Twins song was not approved. The album was re-released a short time later with another song as a replacement. In Finland in the same year a duet with Olavi Uusivirta , Nuori ja kaunis , became a top 10 hit.

After the title Porslin , written by Björn Olsson and Martin Elisson, for the Melodifestivalen 2012, the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , was announced at the end of 2011, the title was withdrawn for unknown reasons. Järvinen finally started at the Melodifestivalen 2013, but retired in the first preliminary round as seventh of eight participants. The best-of album Samling , released shortly afterwards, missed the charts and was the last release with Universal .

In 2015, first the single Affären , then a download EP with five tracks and finally the album Buren was released under the independent label Diesel Music . Before the album was released, Järvinen toured Sweden and Finland. In 2016 the album was also released in Finnish. Under the Swedish independent label Sing a Song Fighter , the single Psalm was released in 2020 as a pre-release from the album Vestigia Terrent .

Anna Järvinen also works as an art and English teacher at the Käppala School in Lidingö .
