Wolfgang Weidner

Wolfgang Weidner (born August 23, 1947 in Herford , Westphalia ) is a German medic.

Life

After graduating from high school, Weidner studied medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen from 1966 to 1972 and passed the medical examination in January 1972. In the same year he carried out his dissertation project for Dr. med. with the topic “Immunohistological examinations of the localization of growth hormone and prolactin in the anterior pituitary gland of different species”. After obtaining his license to practice medicine in 1973, Weidner worked as an assistant doctor in surgery at the Gießen district hospital in Lich. This was followed by training as a doctor for urology at the clinic for urology at the University Hospital of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen (1975–1979). Here Weidner was promoted to university assistant and senior physician at the urological university clinic in March 1980. In 1983, Wolfgang Weidner received the venia legendi for the subject urology through his habilitation on the subject of "prostatitis diagnosis, examinations for the objectification and differential diagnosis of various forms of prostatitis". A first appointment to the professorship (C2) took place in 1985. From 1990 to 1993 Weidner worked for three years as a senior physician at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Urology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . Appointments as apl. Lifetime professor of urology in the Faculty of Medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen (1991) and the Faculty of Medicine at the Georg August University in Göttingen (1993). In 1993, Weidner accepted a call to a C4 professorship associated with the management of the Clinic for Urology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. The name of the clinic was later expanded to include the Clinic for Urology, Pediatric Urology and Andrology . From 2001 to 2004, Weidner initially served as the Deputy Medical Director of the Giessen University Hospital , where he then acted as Medical Director until 2006 . In 2006 Wolfgang Weidner was elected Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen for the first time and held this position until 2009. In 2015, Wolfgang Weidner was re-elected to this position as the first full-time dean of the human medicine department at Justus Liebig University, which he assumed on October 1, 2015 immediately after his retirement on September 30, 2015.

Act

The clinical work of Wolfgang Weidner extends to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), laser therapy , kidney tumor , urinary diversion, female incontinence , surgical therapy andrological disorders, urogenital infections, testicular tumor .

As a scientist, Weidner was mainly active in surgical therapy in andrology, urogenital infections, incontinence in women, BPH, varicocele and induratio penis plastica.
