Life

Origin and family

Anna Maria Theresia von der Recke zu Steinfurt grew up as the daughter of Johann Matthias von der Recke zu Steinfurt and Anna Adolphina von Wolff called Metternich in the ancient Westphalian noble family von der Recke . She had several siblings, including Anna Maria Theresia and Franz Arnold .

Career and work

On September 22, 1723 Anna Maria Theresia was sworn up . Her unanimous election as abbess fell on September 23, 1750. She was the successor of Margaretha Theodora Agnes von Velen . She then took the required oath of faith on October 24th. On January 1, 1751 she renounced her prebend in favor of Francisca Christina von Vittinghoff called Schell. The whole parish was invited to her funeral on March 23, 1780. The funeral feast that followed took place on April 15, with the innkeepers in the parish having five tons of beer ready for consumption.

Anna Maria did not fulfill her obligation to set aside 500 Reichstaler annually for the new building of the abbey. She even left the considerable sum of 15,000 Reichstalers in debt. Your heirs were then claimed by the chapter.
