Anna Maria Theresia von der Recke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anna Maria Theresia von der Recke zu Steinfurt (married from Landsberg zu Erwitte ) (* 1710 , † 1765 ) was the driving force behind the development of the coal and steel industry at Wocklum .

Life

Anna Maria Theresia grew up as the daughter of Johann Matthias von der Recke zu Steinfurt and his wife Anna Adolfina (born von Wolff-Metternich zu Gracht ) together with her siblings Franz Arnold and Anna Maria Theresia (abbess of Nottuln Abbey ) and their half-siblings Johann Friedrich Christian and Ferdinand Wilhelm in the ancient Westphalian noble family von der Recke . She married the former Canon Franz Kaspar Ferdinand von Landsberg zu Erwitte with papal dispensation . He was already 62 years old, but had to return to secular status because of the death of his last relative. Sons were Johann Matthias von Landsberg zu Erwitte and Clemens August von Landsberg zu Erwitte .

Considerable commercial and mining activities started from her, especially after her husband's death in 1748. She came from a family with a long tradition of mining. A sawmill was built as early as 1743 . In 1748 she had an ironworks and an iron hammer built , partly from wood that was extracted from the demolition of an old castle wing . In 1752 she acquired Gut Eisborn with the associated church patronage right . This was also associated with large forest holdings , which were used not least for the production of charcoal for commercial operations. Overall, she managed the Fideikommiss property of the von Landsberg with great success. She also played a major role in the completion of the new castle . The elaborate baroque portal shows the double coat of arms of those von Landsberg and von Recke. In 1758 she handed over the management of the property to her son Clemens August. Only in his time did the hut really go into continuous operation. But it was the mother who created the basis for it. Today in the Luisenhütte Wocklum you can see a cast stove plate with your name and the year 1748.
