Franz Kaspar Ferdinand von Landsberg zu Erwitte (* March 2, 1670 , † September 30, 1748 at Wocklum Castle near Balve ) from the noble family of the Lords of Landsberg was a landlord, canon and high-ranking official of the Duchy of Westphalia .

Life

Landsberg was the son of Landdrosten and General Daniel Dietrich von Landsberg zu Erwitte and his wife Jutta Antonetta von und zu Leyen and Bongard . His siblings Franz Dietrich Joseph , Franz Johann Ferdinand , Franz Ferdinand , Franz Anton and Franz Ludolf were canons. His half-brother Ferdinand Franz was also canon.

Mediated by his brother Franz Dietrich Joseph, he received a cathedral praise in Osnabrück in 1676 . In 1690 and 1691 he spent a biennium in Rome . In 1701 he became the owner of the Episcopal Sacellanate in Schleddehausen. For this reason, Landsberg moved his residence to Osnabrück. A year later he received another canon post from his brother Franz Johann Ferdinand in Münster. In 1702 the consecration followed the sub-deacon .

In 1728 Landsberg became Erbdroste of the office Balve and Droste in the office of Erwitte in the Duchy of Westphalia. A year later he was appointed “Real Aristocratic Council” in the government of the Duchy in Arnsberg.

Landsberg gave up his spiritual offices in 1732 with a papal dispensation in order to take over the family property after the death of his brothers. At the age of 62 he also married Anna Maria Theresia von der Recke zu Steinfurt with papal permission . The children of this marriage are Anna Adolphina (* 1751, ∞ Hermann von Spiegel zum Desenberg ), Clemens August (1733–1785, civil servant), Johann Matthias von Landsberg zu Erwitte (1734–1813, court chamber president) and Franz Karl (1735–1779 , Canon) emerged.

In 1732 he was appointed to the "Secret Electoral Cologne Council". In 1742 Landsberg became Grand Cross Lord of the Order of St. Michael .

He was buried in the cathedral in Münster . His epitaph , which was destroyed in World War II, was created by Johann Wilhelm Gröninger . One of his sons was Johann Matthias von Landsberg to Erwitte .
