Life

Anna Maria Fink, Burgenland-Croatian , baptized a Catholic on the day of her birth, was the daughter of Anna Fink, who was still unmarried at the time, and Mathias Zsabetich, a blast furnace worker. At the beginning of November 1907 she was registered (“ legitimized ”) in the marriage of her parents Zsabetich . Coming from a farming family, she had to work on her grandfather's farm at the age of seven after his wife had died. During her youth she looked after her grandparents, her in-laws during her marriage and finally her husband Martin Medwenitsch (born January 18, 1901; † July 3, 1973; marriage in June 1927), who had suffered several strokes. Their first child was only eleven months old and their daughter died at the age of 56.

Anna Medwenitsch worked as a farmer in her home town all her life. Before she moved to the Marienheim in Bruck an der Leitha shortly after her 106th birthday as a result of a femoral neck fracture in 2012, she was still living independently in her parents' house. On her 110th birthday, she was not only the oldest living Lower Austrian and the second oldest living Austrian, but also the oldest farmer pensioner with a widow's pension from the farmers' social insurance institution . On April 1, 2018, Easter Sunday, and two weeks after her 111th birthday, the devout Catholic Medwenitsch died in good health according to her age. She was a grandmother and a great-grandmother of two.
