Anna Walch

Anna Walch (born November 20, 1887 in Weiler (Sinsheim) , † March 17, 1966 in Karlsruhe ) was a German politician ( CDU ). In 1946 she was a member of the State Constituent Assembly of Württemberg-Baden .

Life

Anna Walch moved to his father's death with her family to Karlsruhe, where she Trade School attended and completed a commercial apprenticeship. In 1918 she was already working as a department manager in a Karlsruhe department store. Her husband died in World War I , the only son in World War II .

During the Weimar Republic she was involved in Catholic women's work and social welfare. After 1945 she worked in recreational welfare for children and in refugee welfare. After the currency reform in 1948 , together with denominational women's organizations and the German Red Cross , she initiated an agency for emergency purchases and sales in Karlsruhe .

Political activity

She joined the CDU and in 1946 became a member of the Constituent State Assembly of Württemberg-Baden. From 1947 to 1956 she was a member of the Karlsruhe municipal council.

Honors

In 1956 she received the Federal Cross of Merit .

In 1979 the Anna-Walch-Haus - a nursing home - was named after her in Karlsruhe .
