Anna Wienhard

Anna Katharina Wienhard (* 1977 ) is a German mathematician who deals with differential geometry .

Wienhard received his doctorate in 2004 under Werner Ballmann (and Marc Burger ) at the University of Bonn (bounded cohomology and geometry). As a post-doctoral student , she was in Basel and in 2005/06 and from 2009 to 2012 at the Institute for Advanced Study . From 2005 to 2007 she was Dickson Instructor at the University of Chicago and from 2007 to 2010 Director of Graduate Studies at Princeton University , as well as Assistant Professor. Since 2012 she has been a professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

It deals with deformation of geometric structures (higher Teichmüller theory ), discrete subgroups of Lie groups and Anosov representations .

In 2016 she was invited speaker at the European Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin (with O. Guichard: Positivity and higher Teichmüller theory). For 2018 she is the invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Rio de Janeiro . She is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society . From 2012 to 2014 she was a Sloan Research Fellow . From 2008 to 2013 she was a member of the Junge Akademie ( Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina ). She has been a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences since 2017 and of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 2019 .
