Anna from Lucam

Anna von Lucam (born Anna Egger ; * July 18, 1840 in Vienna , † May 17, 1921 in Kalksburg ) was an Austrian social worker and promoter of employment for women. She was president of the Vienna Women's Acquisition Association and its honorary member.

In 1862 Anna Egger married the banking specialist Carl von Lucam (1826–1907); the banker Wilhelm von Lucam (1820–1900) was her brother-in-law. In 1866 the women’s acquisition association was founded in Vienna. Its aim was to support the employment of girls and women. Anna von Lucam was elected to the board of the association in 1874. In 1893 she became Vice President, from 1894 to 1897 she was President. She ran the association's treasury for more than 20 years and initiated the establishment of a machine knitting school and a cooking school.
