Anne Charles Lebrun
Anne Charles Lebrun (born December 28, 1775 in Paris , † January 21, 1859 ibid) was a French Général de division of the cavalry .
Life
Lebrun was a son of the consul Charles-François Lebrun . After the coup d'état of 18th Brumaire VIII his career began in the army. After a short time he was able to distinguish himself and after a few promotions he was transferred to General Louis Charles Antoine Desaix as an aide-de-camp .
Under Desaix he fought a. a. in the Battle of Marengo (June 14, 1800) and participated in the occupation of Austria. On November 29, 1802, on his return to France, he married Sophie de Marbois and had a daughter, Caroline-Elizabeth. Shortly after the birth of his daughter, he separated from his wife and officially divorced in 1831. As a colonel, he served as Napoleon's aide-de-camp for some time , for example in the battle of Austerlitz .
On March 1, 1807 he was promoted to Général de brigade , he was appointed Inspector General of the Cavalry on October 6 of the same year. This was followed by participation in the Battle of Eylau and the Battle of Wagram . At the end of 1809 he was responsible for the defense of Antwerp and the supply of Breda , Bergen op Zoom and other permanent places.
On February 23, 1812, he was promoted to Général de division before the start of the Russian campaign . He was also appointed Comte de l'Empire (about: Imperial Count) and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Ordre de la Réunion on April 3, 1813 , and was admitted to the Légion d'honneur as Grand Officier on November 3 of the same year . He was appointed commander of the 1st and 3rd reserve divisions of the Grande Armée and on October 7, 1813, the governor of Antwerp.
During the campaign in France in 1814, he took over the post of aide de camp from Napoléon on January 25th.
With the death of his father on June 16, 1824, Lebrun inherited the title duc d Plaisance (Duke of Piacenza). Between 1853 and 1859 Lebrun acted as Grand Chancellier (Grand Chancellor) of the Legion of Honor .
At the age of 84, Anne Charles Lebrun died on January 21, 1859 in Paris and found his final resting place on the Cimetière du Père Lachaise (5th Division).
