Anne Senechal Faust

Anne Senechal Faust (born March 11, 1936 in New Britain , Connecticut ) is an American animal artist . She specializes in screen printing .

Life

Anne Senechal Faust is the daughter of George Augustin and Luise Mary Senechal, née Schmalz. Her younger brother Ronald George Senechal (1938-2018) worked as a geochemist at the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) and at Oregon State University . She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Boston University College of Fine Arts in 1958 with a cum laude grade . From 1959 to 1967 she was a draftsman at Connecticut Light & Power in Berlin , Connecticut. From 1967 to 1969 she worked as an illustrator for the Fafnir Bearing Company, New Britain, Connecticut. From 1969 to 1979 she was an art teacher atNew Britain Board of Education , where she taught in Elementary Schools (K6). In 1977 she earned a Masters in Art Education from the University of Hartford , Connecticut. She has been working as a full-time graphic artist since 1979.

Senechal Faust creates her pictures with the screen printing technique. In doing so, she continuously reduced the number of stencils without losing the characteristic 3D effect. Her preferred objects are wild birds in their natural habitat, which she uses as models on her worldwide bird watching tours .

Since 1981 the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau , Wisconsin has hosted exhibitions by Senechal Faust on a regular basis. At the 24th Birds in Art exhibition in 1999, twelve graphics that were created between 1977 and 1999 were presented and she was the first graphic artist and first woman to be honored as a “Master Wildlife Artist”. From January to May 2014 held Museum of American Bird Art of the Massachusetts Audubon Society , the exhibition A Life List in Silkstreen: The Art of Anne S. Faust .

She has been a member of the Society of Animal Artists since 1992 , where she won the “Award of Excellence” twice, in 1992 for the work El Cusingo and in 2005 for her picture This is MY Chicken .

Senechal Faust has been married to nature photographer Jacob Faust since 1979 and lives in Baton Rouge , Louisiana .
